Rice

The plant has Asian origins: the Chinese cultivated it for food as early as the 6th millennium BC, as evidenced by several Neolithic sites in eastern China. It then spread to Mesopotamia, Persia, Egypt and finally to Europe. Italy today is the main European producer of rice.
Rice, in addition to being widely used as a main dish, in the form of boiled salted rice, lends itself to the preparation of more elaborate salty dishes such as risotto, but also desserts such as rice or rice pudding and decorations cake.
